The Center for Disaster Care and Emergency Medicine Education was founded by United Family Healthcare in December 2012 to expand emergency medicine expertise in the UFH health system and in China. The CDEME is the first center of its kind funded by a private healthcare organization.

In our ongoing pursuit of excellence in providing safe, accessible care meeting a cutting-edge international standard, the Center for Disaster and Emergency Medicine Education at UFH is pleased to announce that we are recruiting candidates for our Emergency Medicine training Program, with the first group of trainees to begin in October, 2014.

Our program is a highly ive three-year program, following the structure and curriculum of a three-year residency program in the United States. It will train licensed physicians to be experts in acute care across all specialties, including pediatrics, internal medicine, minor surgical procedures, obstetrics/gynecology, and in the emergent evaluation, initial treatment, and optimal disposition of all emergency department patients.

Physicians in our training program will see a wide array of patients, and will rotate through the internal medicine, surgical, pediatric, obstetrics/gynecology, and other services in our own network of hospitals (which include centers in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, and Tianjin, among others). They will also do rotations at top-tier tertiary hospitals in China as well as oversea.

The program will follow a curriculum developed by experienced emergency physicians, trained in the United States and certified in emergency medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. trainees will be mentored by an international team of emergency physicians, most trained in the United States, Europe, and Canada, all committed to helping our fellows grow as emergency specialists.

Upon successful completion of our program, the graduates will be:

Salary during the training period will be competitive with the salary for a junior physician in a local hospital, and will progress with each year in the program. As will responsibility for patient care and education of more junior trainees.
