The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou),(“HKUST(GZ)”), was officially approved by the Ministry of Education ofPeople’s Republic of China to enter the preparatory status in September2019. Located in Nansha, Guangzhou, the campus covers 1.13 squarekilometers and the first phase of construction is expected to becompleted by September 2022. At steady state, the number ofundergraduate and postgraduate students will reach a total of 10,000.Under the “Unified HKUST, Complementary Campuses” framework, theintended areas of focus in HKUST(GZ) will be thematic andcross-disciplinary in nature, synergistic with HKUST, a world-renownedinternational research university with innovation in her DNA. There willbe four Academic Hubs (equivalent to schools) with 16 Thrust Areas(equivalent to departments).

The Biosciences Central Research Facility provides cutting-edgetechnologies in a broad range of biological research. We are currentlylooking for an experienced technical officer to manage the flowcytometry, microscopy, and histology cores. Our platforms currentlyinclude flow cell based and stream-in-air based flow cytometers,high-speed confocal microscopes, high content screening microscopes,super-resolution microscope, laser dissection microscope, andhigh-performance histology suite. In addition to upholding existingstandard protocols, the appointee is expected to adopt and drive newtechnological innovations in areas such as the high-throughputsingle-cell sorting technique, super-resolution imaging, and AI-basedmicroscopy data analysis. He/she will also be expected to demonstrateabilities to coordinate research service or collaborative researchprojects with effective timeline management.

Duties
1. Develop instrument operation SOPs and provide instrument operationaltraining to students and research staff;
2. Perform daily maintenance on the instruments;
3. Nurture relationship with users in organizing various seminars, usergroup meetings, and workshops to introduce new technologies to users andhear their feedbacks;
4. Ensure the adherence to safety practices per Health and Safety regulations;
5. Perform other tasks assigned by supervisor.

任职资格:
Qualification Requirements
1. Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree or higher in biologicalsciences or related disciplines with at least 1 year of relevant experience;
2. Good analytical and critical thinking skills, excellentorganizational skills, and strong communication and presentation skills;
3. Experience in working in a life science core facility are strongly preferred;
4. Acquire depth and breadth of knowledge in all aspects pertaining todepartmental role and effectively apply technical knowledge to solve arange of problems;
5. Make sure the practical needs of the team and team members are metand ensure that the team’s tasks are completed in accordance with theformulated plan;
6. Organize work according to project and time management principles andprocesses; practices and plans for contingencies to deal with unexpectedevents or setbacks;
7. Good command in written and spoken English and Chinese (Putonghua is preferred).

This is a Mainland appointment, and the appointee will be offered acontract by HKUST Mainland entity in accordance with the Mainland laborlaws and regulations. Starting salary will be commensurate withqualifications and experience.
